Rail to Madrid

Rail to Madrid

Postby bobhughes53 » Sat Jun 10, 2017 7:33 am

Hi there

We're staying with my sister-in-law in Quesada during the last week in June

Which is the beat/easiest option to travel from Quesada to get the Renfe fast train to Madrid?

We're hiring a car at Alicante Airport and want to leave it at a station (park & ride)

I've been on the Renfe website and can see how to book and pay for the tickets and select the best train times.

Is it best to travel from Alicante railway station or Murcia? Will the parking be expensive? Are there any more local stations you can park at free and connect to either Alicante or Murcia or better still catch the Alicante - Madrid train?

Thanks for your help.

You can park at San Isidora and get train to Alicante with onward ticket to Madrid. Over 60's get concessions

Hi again

I've bought our Alicante to Madrid return tickets on-line.

I've visited the Renfe website for local trains from Albetera-Catral (San Isidro). I've worked out the times and that it's in Zone 3; but can't work out how to pay for the tickets on the local trains website? Can you either:-

Pay at a booth at the station?
Pay at a machine at the station? If so does it take notes or coins only or will it take debit/credit cards? Can you switch the machines instructions to English ?
Can you buy the tickets elsewhere? In Italy you buy bus tickets at the Tobacconists for example.

Thanks in anticipation for your kind help once again with this?

I think you can only buy cercania (suburban) train tickets at the station - ticket machines are easy to use - or we have bought them from the conductor on the train too.
