Secure car battery
Secure car battery

I've heard a rumour that if your car battery is not secured with a strap and bolt or similar it will fail the ITV test. Can anyone confirm this and/or recommend the best garage to nip to to get it sorted before the test. Cheers!

Why not just pop into Tyres Direct opposite the Halfway House in Quesada & let them have a look?
I'm sure they'll know what's required & how to go about it.

You'll certainly fail a UK MOT if the battey isn't secured, I guess the Spanish ITV is similar.
The reason is that if you are in an accident and the car ends-up on its roof then the battery could fall out and the terminals short-out on the bodywork, causing a fire.
Batteries are normally secured with a plate at the bottom that bolts to the battery tray and clamps the battery down. If the plate/bolt is missing then you could pick-up a replacement from a breakers yard.
Alternatively a motor factors might sell a kit like this:

or you could pick-up a bit of threaded rod, some wing nuts and a bit of aluminium angle to make your own.
Pete.
