Water bills

I agree with the previous posters that it is advisable to switch your water off when not out in Spain. I had a neighbour several years ago who used my outside tap to fill his kids paddling pool when I wasn't in Spain, thankfully my neighbour the other side of me caught him doing it and put him straight. I now switch off at the mains all the time.

Our Hidraqua bill for the Feb to April 2017 quarter was Eu 103.42 for a 3 bed, 3 bath house with private pool, so your bill does seem expensive. However, when we moved out here a year ago, our first bill was Eu 167.32 for the same period in 2016, which may suggest that the first bill is loaded in some way. Our solicitor was extremely diligent about ensuring we did not pay any portion of the previous owners' bills, so this suggests there may be an admin fee on the first bill, which you wouldn't think to query as your don't know any different at the time. If your solicitor arranged your utility connections for you, I would suggest contacting them for clarification, or Hidraqua direct. Good luck!

We have a 2-bed 1-bath apartment which was occupied for 1 month out of the 3 but our usage was 21 cu.mtrs, so 60 cu.mtrs does sound a lot without a pool.

We do have a water filter under the sink, and I think that it is a reverse osmosis, a big barrel thing, not what we were expecting to be honest, out last filter wa the carbon cartridges that needed changing once very 6month and yearly. Does this filter use these amount of water? It's only for drinking water? Just going to check the meter as can't see how we could have used that much water!

Thanks Trotter, we have phoned the plumber that fitted the filter and he did say yes there is some wastage but wouldn't justify the amount we've been billed for. He suggested that the bill which was from a reading is a catch up as the previous bill was estimated. Somfurther investigation I think!

Something very very wrong with 60cu3 reading.

I probably visit my house 10x per year and prob spend 60 days a year there. I haven't used more than 20cu3 in that period.

60cu3 is a crazy amount of water unless your filling a pool from empty

We've checked the meter to see if it moves without us using water and the answer is no, so no leaks, which is good, we are now recording the readings so we can keep a check.
