Water bills

Water bills

Postby Moettennis » Tue Jun 20, 2017 2:42 pm

We have received a bill for Feb-may for e117.76 is this usual for a 2bed 2 bath property? Having just moved here have no idea if this is usual? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you. (Hidraqua is the supplier)

A little higher than expected. Ours is around €65 to €70 a quarter. However, do you have a pool? That would add a bit as would automatic irrigation system (we have one but stopped using it and just use a hosepipe except when we are away).
The actual cost of the water is quite low but you have the tax, supply costs, rubbish collection, meter charge etc which accounts for most of the bill. Also, as it's your first one, have they added an admin charge for changing the name perhaps?

Could be an estamated one not a true reading , will say on bill...can you see the reading on metre...check when no water being use to see if it is showing water running through...you may have a small leak.

Hi

Is this your first water bill?

If so check that you are not being billed for any usage of the previous owner ?

I'd also recommend you talk to the President of your community and find out where your meter is then when you are not there turn off the supply there.

Good Luck

Many thanks - I am trying to check that out - the meter is in our wall but my bill does not state a reading? We don't have s pool or irrigation system and have been here during the period billed - just seems high?

32 euros per month is a fair figure if property is used as a hol home and no pool or irrigation system.
My property is bigger than the original posters as well

My property is also bigger as it is 3 bed, 2 bath no pool. However, we live here permanently (just the two of us most of the time). When we were non-res the bill was about €18 a month.
As permanent residents the last years bill have averaged €21.36 per month so I think €32 a month is a bit OTT for a 2 bed property.

Thank you - are you with same company as us? Most of the bill seems to be standing charge rather than consumption? If it continues think we will look for another provider.

Yes, Aguagest (now Hidraqua). The charge for the water is really quite low but all the other companies charge the same standing charges, unfortunately. A said, living here as a non-resident the bills were only about 10 or 12 euro less than we now get charged living here permanently. Works the same for electricity, as well.
Of course, the other problem is the crashing pound. It was 1.40 when we moved here so a quarterly bill of 65 euro was 46 quid. Now that same bill is 57 quid. The price here hasn't gone up but it seems like it.
Not a lot we can do about that.
