Bar Tropicana (Algorfa)
One of the longest established bar – restaurants in Algorfa is soon to come under new management.
Present owner Cliff Gospel is retiring from the business and handing over to another Birmingham family after more than 12 years of business in Algorfa.
New owners Jill and Ian Mobley together with their family are set to take over the management of the Tropicana from the beginning of June.
They plan a brief closure for redecoration and then the Tropicana is set for a re-opening party on June 5th when the family introduce their new ‘Gastro Pub’ look.
The new owners are also introducing an exciting new menu, devised and prepared by the family’s eldest son and chef, Dave.
Dave is joining the family in Algorfa after many years heading up the kitchen’s of some of Birmingham’s best known restaurants and, together with the management skills of his sister Samantha they plan to put their years of catering experience into creating an exciting new ‘gastro pub’style for the Tropicana.
Keen to retain the bar’s loyal following in Algorfa, Dave and Sam plan to introduce a new range of freshly cooked dishes onto the menu.
‘The new Tropicana menu offers the very best of home cooked English and continental favourites’ said Dave which we intend to prepare and present in a modern ‘gastro pub’ style.
We hope everyone will come along to our opening party on the 5th added Sam, ‘there’s a glass of ‘Bubbly’ for everyone and …. the chance to sample some of Dave’s excellent cooking for free! Best get here early it’s going to be a busy night’
The re-launch of this well known favourite in Algorfa promises to be an exciting new venture for the family who hope to see customers old and new on the evening of the 5th June so why not pop along and help them celebrate.
For those of you who haven’t been before, the Tropicana is just off the Town Square in Calle Mayor.

No Jan its in Algorfa and the Bar/Restaurant is situated in Calle Major just before the square Tel: 645 179443 hours are yet to be decided however we anticipate 12-2 and then 5 - late
