LA BOHEME RESTAURANT - QUESADA

Postby Michael » Thu Sep 19, 2013 4:14 pm

Myself & the missus just had a brilliant meal at this new La Boheme restaurant. We had one of the set-menu options at 14 euros, 3 courses and a great big glass of wine. The food was wonderful. The restaurant is very roomy and air conditioned and the service is very friendly. Its owned and run by 2 of the ex waiters from the Budapest. Its definitely on my 'return to' list.

it wasnt a lunch. It was an evening meal and was excellent quality. I personally started with a pancake stuffed with spicy mince and a paprika sauce. Then i had the beef goulash with dumplings for my mains and a tart tartin with vanilla sauce for dessert........god, my mouths watering thinking about it. The service is also excellent.

It's the old Piano Bar - near to the Tobac and Katy's dress shop - in the road opposite De Bassus

It is not a 'cheap and cheerful' place ... any more than the Budapest was/is ... it is a classy restaurant with excellent food, good wine and service, at what I regard as quite moderate prices for what you get (MdD is 9.50).
The Budapest chef, Michael, retired and I am told that his sous-chef has moved to this place ... Michael has since visited and given it his seal of approval.
The two 'front men' are (phonetically spelled!) Chubby and Sabby, both very charming and with a good SOH.
The word seems to have got around in the 5-6 weeks they have been open, so it has been busy the 3 times I have been, and, as a result, service is sometimes 'leisurely', but it's not the place to go to 'grab a quick bite'! They don't appear to need to advertise!
I had been reluctant to recommend it too soon, as I wanted to 'keep it to myself' a bit longer :text-lol:

Went to La Boheme for a lunchtime menu Eu 9.90 including a glass of wine.
The food was of very high quality, the restaurant looked beautiful and the service was excellent. I had French onion soup, chicken breast stuffed with camembert, then blueberry crepes for dessert. I will definitely be returning, the a la carte menu is really inviting.

It'll be goulash I think - i.e. a thick meat based soup - goulash soup or caldo de res perhaps.

I think in this instance it probably will be goulash soup but gulas are tiny baby eels. You might like to check before you order :D
