Went to The Bells again last night and as always the food was very good. We went to the outside area on the left this time as it was a very hot night. They have a big screen now where they play concerts, last night it was a Stones concert. It wasn't too loud which was good as there's nothing worse than trying to talk over loud music, but it was very enjoyable to listen to.
We had starters of the Hungarian bean soup & pate, both were delicious. Then we had (my favourite) Pork chop, that isn't a pork chop - more like medallions of pork - in a Gypsy sauce (which is tomato based) which comes with a lovely sauté of finely sliced vegetables and sliced sautéed potatoes. The other main course was the same pork and vegetables/potatoes, with a mushroom sauce. Both were lovely.
For desserts we had Tiramisu and freshly cooked pancake/chocolate sauce and ice cream...yummy!
We had the 7.50 set meal and the wine was 1 euro a glass and large beer 1.70 euro - very reasonable!
The bill came to 19.40 for two (that was with two large beers and a glass of very nice white wine)- Brilliant price and good food, nicely served!

My husband won't drink & drive, which I think is so commendable but his mouth watered when I said about a large beer being only 1.70€.
We are lucky that we can walk to most of the restaurants we use but we have the same problem with the restaurants we like at El Raso. Obviously one of us can't have a drink when we drive there.
We have even thought of cycling there but there isn't a proper cycle lane on the Lemon Tree road - With my wobbly cycling, even without a glass of wine or two, I wouldn't chance that road!...and don't say anything anyone, I know you shouldn't really drink and cycle too!

We love The Bells Restaurants too, we tend to use La Campana more and always have a great meal at a great price!

We would like to give The Bells a try tomorrow night! Do I need to book a table and if so does anyone know the phone number? Annette (Los Montesinos)

The Bells is always a good bet to receive constantly good food and at a very reasonable price. The staff are always so friendly and polite and can't do enough for you. For anybody who hasn't yet tried it please do as its well worth a visit!

Sorry Annette, I've been trying to find the phone number for a while. We always go to the Bells and La Campana and I have their business cards in Spain but not at home in the UK, where I am now.
Hope you enjoyed the restaurant. We can't wait to get back there!
I will put the phone number on here when we get to Spain in a few weeks.

Hi Lyn,
Welcome to TalkQuesada. Hope you enjoy the forum.
I agree with everything you said about the Bells - We go there often. We also like the La Campana too. They are both lovely informal restaurants with a nice atmosphere and good food. Can't wait to get back there in a few weeks.

Guapa wrote:We decided that as we needed to go to Quesada chemist today to replenish my stock of Gaviscon sachets (too much food in sauces, maybe) we'd have a drink at Goyo's then try The Bells as I'd read so much about it here.
Hubby had the Hungarian bean soup.. lots of beans with veg in it .. & I had the Hungarian beef goulash soup which had large chunks of beef that fell apart it was so tender & chunks of potato & carrots & green beans. Then hubby had beef goulash with rice, I chose the chicken breast fillets with bacon around them with red wine sauce (wierdest tasting red wine sauce I've tasted though & a bit salty for me & I hate salt) & wonderful sauté potatoes then hubby had tiramisu, I had pancakes with choc sauce. It was 6€ at lunchtime & we had a glass of red wine each for 1.50€ each though I drink half of hubbies, he just has a few swigs.
Attentive service, lovely people. Will go again, not for the red wine sauce though. We sat outside under the shade as it was so hot today, there was a cooling breeze occasionally.
I should add you need to pay cash, no credit cards, fair enough but we didn't see a notice up saying cash only then my hubby's credit card was refused.
Thank you Guapa - You didn't happen to take the business card home, did you? We could do with the phone number and any other details like email address on here. Be great if you can give us the details (scan it or take a photo of it, if that saves time!) I have quite a few of the cards in Spain but forgot to bring one home with me! LOL
