Viloriens Restaurant is Closed!

Postby RogerB » Thu May 23, 2013 1:31 am

For anyone who has had the pleasure of dining there ... or is thinking of it, as their ads have continued in the free papers! ... I have this sad news.
A friend tried to book there last week, and was told "We are closing TODAY, for an indefinite period" ... we drove by after a lovely meal at nearby Paco's, and confirmed that all was locked and barred, with no signs to say what has happened.

The success and expansion of Paco's may have had some effect on their trade ... but who knows; these are tough times.

FYI, Paco's is on the CV920, old road from Rojales to Guardamar, about halfway (and Viloriens was a bit off that road to the left, coming from Rojales)

Paco's is excellent ...Menu del Dia is €11 but includes:
salad, bread, and alioli + a half bott of good house wine(or equivalent)
A 'daily starter' choice, which can be almost a meal in itself, soups and stews, etc
A large choice of about 7 main dishes incl deiicious lamb chops, swordfish and tuna steaks, all served with very nice, non greasy chips
choice of about 4 desserts
coffee and a small liqueur (incl brandy).
Service is great, as is, IMO, the 'ambience' ... Snr Paco cooks the food himself on a visible wood fire! Sometimes there is also some music.
Typically for a Spanish restaurant, you won't see many veggies!!
Booking is essential, as it gets very crowded most days.

Some of the people who worked in Viloriens have opened a new restaurant called La Consecha or a similar name, Hilary and a couple of the other waitresses and one of the chefs are there. You go to beniofar from La Marina when you get to the cobbles go straight across follow the road to the large roundabout take the first exit and the restaurant is about 300 yards on the left of the road on arise you can't miss it
, you will need to book and I am sure they will have a website. The meals are very good and the cost of the set meals about14 euros including a carafe of wine between two.
