CERTIFICADO DE DELITOS PENALES

CERTIFICADO DE DELITOS PENALES

Postby Samfromcheshire » Thu Nov 17, 2016 3:53 pm

Hi Everyone

I wonder if anyone can help me.....

I have recently started a job out here in Spain and my employer has asked me to provide a "Certificado de Delitos Penales". I understand that it is to prove that i do not have a criminal record.

My employer told me to take my documents to the local National Police station and they would be able to process this request.

As always, life is not that straight forward in Spain because i went to my local Police Station who advised me that I needed to go to the Civil Guard offices in Almoradi. He even printed off the address for me and I popped it into my SatNav and set off. On arriving at the address given to me by the Police, I found an old empty & dilapidated building.

The staff in the Irish bar across the road told me that the building used to be used by the Civil Guard but not for the last six or seven years! They gave me the address of the new Civil Guard building and off I set again.

When I eventually got to speak to a member of the Civil Guard and told him what I wanted, he told me that I had to go to Valencia City.

I can't believe that this is correct and so I thought I would throw this out to the forum to see if anyone else has been through this process and if so, how did you go about getting this certificate.

On the positive side, its the middle of November, the sun is out and I am still wearing shorts :D

Thanks in Advance

Your nie should be sufficient as you won't get an nie number if you have a criminal record

I don't think that's true. The NIE number is just a fiscal/tax number. I don't believe it would be practical for anyone with a criminal record to be denied an NIE number, otherwise anyone who was convicted of a crime would be unable to buy a house or a vehicle in Spain.
Also, your NIE number stays with you for life, so having one doesn't prove that you haven't been convicted of a crime since it was issued.

Hola, i also need to get a certificado de delitos penales a few years ago for my employer, i worked in Torrevieja and my nearest office that i could get one was the National police office in Murica , it is not the actual police station but a small office in the city center. I Think you can down load the forms. You need to complete the forms take them to the bank they will tell you which one pay about i think six euro get it stamped by the bank, then to the police with your N I E. and passport, takes about five minutes. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I tried again to do this on my own on Friday and gave up. I am now using a solicitor.

Thanks again
