Proving finances, English bank okay?
Proving finances, English bank okay?
by MriGrout » Mon May 09, 2016 9:40 am
Hi again,
My husband is currently applying for residencia and despite finding nowhere that you have to prove savings in a Spanish account, the men at the police station are saying it has to be in a Spanish account!
Has anyone encountered the same thing? Have you managed to prove your finances in an English account?
Many many cheers

hi, we didn't have to prove savings in Spanish account but did have to prove we had a viable income (paid into UK bank) they didn't seem interested in where the payment went just that we had the income...not sure if that's any help to you

What office did you go to?
I heard it can be vastly different answers just twenty minutes down the road!
But yes, that helps. Maybe we can get our lawyer to argue it...

You're allowed to prove savings. The police in torrevieja say otherwise, but the official eu site for Spanish requirements says you are (though having income is much easier by the sounds of it). The police in orihuela also don't have a problem with residencia visa savings as long as you also have health insurance coverage with hospitalization included for one year and about £5000 per person.
All of that minus the specifics are written out online. The only thing I don't remember seeing is being a Spanish bank account. :/ and an apostle is £60 and translation 60Euro! So you can see why I want to avoid that if it's not necessary/actually required.
Sorry if I sounded rude. Am frustrated by the entire process at this point. Why do they make it so hard when we want to put money into their economy? Aaaaaargh!

we simply presented the S1 + proof of pension + padron + NIE to Orihuela police and there was no problem

Thanks sharon1977. How did you prove pension? Was it ok a statement from UK bank as in original question or does it have to be a spanish bank? Does NIE have to be current address? I am sure all this could be easier.
thanks
thanks

husband took a letter from DWP confirming pension from age of 65....luckily as recent we took this, I took pension ketter (private pension) together with p60 from pension company and also uk bank statement showing the receipt of monthly payment, my documents seem to cause the most issues but were accepted, cant help with NIE as we have only ever had one address here in spain.....we only went through this process in the last couple of months
