Burglarys

Burglarys

Postby Ally » Sat Jan 21, 2017 12:35 pm

Hi,
We were broken into last november and since then have wondered what is being done by the authorities, in particular we wondered if our neighbours had been contacted for any information they may have or at least to warn them of crooks being active in the area.
Yesterday i spoke with one of my German neighbours and had it confirmed that none of the above had taken place, they however did mention to me that two weeks ago they were broken into and their dog was tassered during the burglary. The dog spent 2 weeeks in the veterinary clinic recovering.
This thread is just to let people know that just because they dont hear of crime do not assume that is not happening, these burglars doing the rounds are very professional and seem to be doing their homework on their targets hance carrying tassers to silence barking animals.
Be SAFE.

This is terrible, to report a crime and then basicly being ignored is awful . Time for people to take steps and report the incedent to a higher authority than the local Plod!!

I feel safer in Quesada than in the UK. Yes we do hear about a few robberies, as can happen anywhere, but there are thousands living happily without experiencing any problems like this.
I would think that in percentage terms it is very low compared to the population of Quesada.

Same as in the UK it is wise to have good security in place and to be aware and take care. The problem in Spain is that some people do things that they would never do on the UK, like leave front doors open and gates unlocked giving opportunist thieves the opportunity.

When we first bought our Spanish holiday home years ago there was a saying that Brits come to Spain and leave their brains at the airport. Hopefully forums like this, with their good advice, help avoid that these days.

Obviously there are a few who sadly experience a break-in however careful they've been, but whereever we live this can happen whatever we do.

Forums and social media may give us the impression that these things are happening much more than they actually are by the fact we are hearing about them when we hardly ever did before. Hearing about them is a good thing to keep us aware but we mustn't let it scare us.
I'm sure if we used forums in our local area of the UK in the same way as we do here, we would hear of much more happening there.

The papers have reported that two women have been arrested for robberies in the Rojales, Pilar and Orihuela Costa areas.
This is a link to the Leader which has a photo of the women on it and also says the robberies date back some time so maybe these are the ones people have reported.
