Robberies using 'Hug Method' - Person Arrested

Robberies using 'Hug Method' - Person Arrested

Postby benijofarmike » Fri Mar 10, 2017 4:36 pm

I have just read on a Spanish News website that a young woman has been arrested in Rojales for numerous thefts using the 'hug method'.

Here is a rough translation:-

'The detainee acted in the urbanisation Doña Pepa II after selecting her victims, usually of advanced age.
The detainee, who was operating with two young men, was working in the urbanisation of Doña Pepa II, near a commercial centre, where she selected her victims, often elderly foreign residents, seeking a body hug to steal money, jewellery and other belongings.
The young woman allegedly has numerous committed thefts in Marbella, Torremolinos and Murcia, as well as allegedly stealing jewellery from an old man in Benijófar.
The Police advise taking continued caution when approached by some unknown person out of the blue'.

It seems that there are more than the above committing the same crimes throughout the Orihuela Costa and surrounding areas and throughout Costa Blanca. These criminals are all using similar methods. I would say they are organized gangs and I have read in various forums that they are not only stealing jewellery from vulnerable elderly people but accosting people in their cars and in car parks and service stations stealing passports and valuables. Seems if this person has been known to have numerous previous convictions that these people are not being severely dealt with by the law if they are free to take themselves to other areas and continue their criminal offences. There has been a significant number of people reported suspicious individuals who have been scouting around properties entering private areas and in various vehicles and have been reported to the police only to be told they cant do anything unless a crime has been committed. I would say that the Police need to be more proactive in stopping and dealing with them more effectively and courts dealing with them more severely before these criminals are discouraged from continuing their sometimes violent and terrible criminal offences.
