Thieves about again!

Thieves about again!

Postby Quigley » Wed Nov 09, 2016 11:37 am

Hi All,

Please be aware of the following. THIEVES ARE ABOUT

This morning I was walking home at 10.30 am. Suddenly a girl appeared and asked me if I knew a name in our street, I said I did not. She started to hug me and get close and made suggestive comments. I pushed her off me and told her to get lost. She left. I Immediately checked for my wallet, mobile and was pleased that they were both still in my pockets.

However, when I looked for the gold chain around my neck, it was missing. This was the girl's target.

A good looking girl of about 22 years, should length black hair tied in a pony tail. Well dressed in blue jeans, short black leather jacket, white trainers and a lot of facial makeup. Please be aware that trying to help some people can backfire on you.

Sorry to hear this but it's an old trick and has been spoken about on this forum before.
It seems that sadly its best to appear impolite and ignore these people. Even if they are genuine we can just appear to be in a hurry as it's just not worth giving them the time of day.
There were some who were pulling up in their car on the pretext of asking directions and showing a map to get people to come over and lean in the car and then they stole jewellery.
Some young men in a car asked us once if we spoke English and we just nodded no and quickly walked on.
Most of us want to be helpful and it's a shame but it just isn't worth it.

May as well just give her the euros, cut out the middle man. Don't walk around with a wallet, gold chain around your neck, watch on your wrist.

Don't allow that the action of one ( or few ) results in a bad attitude to all other good people.
Spain is a very friendly country. Let us stay that also, with respect to all who wants to earn a honest euro, in a environment thats very hard and difficult for a lot of the local people in this economic condition. I try to be prudent and careful but also not to be ....
Enjoy and have a great day!
Just a thought !
