As we have had lots of people asking about the registered taxi's around Quesada and the surrounding towns, we thought we would put the numbers on this topic. I have just obtained the Guardamar registered taxi number from the Tourist office (hopefully there is more than one taxi on this number!) I will add more as we get them.

After reading a recommendation by one of our members I tried to book Easy Taxi to take me to Alicante airport from Quesada last weekend. Was told that I would be better trying a local taxi company as Easy Taxi's are based in Orihuela Costa and did not cover Quesada!

Taxis

Hi
We found that taxis are only allowed to operate in their area but Spanish bars, supermarkets etc are very helpful about giving you numbers if you want a return journey. The exception was an English Estate agents. Didn't know any!!!!

Yes, I've worked out that you can get any registered taxi to take you to any other area but for coming back it has to be a taxi company from the area you are coming from, which is a bit of a nuisance. We ordered Easy Taxi from Alicante airport once and they were very good (They charged €45 to Quesada - Some 'private' illegal taxi's charge €40) but they can't be booked to go back to the airport from Quesada.

I personally think that if the authorities opened up the areas to any registered taxi (as in the UK) it may go some way to cut down on illegal taxis. Also there could be more work for taxi drivers, instead of making it appear like a 'closed shop' for the chosen few!

Also the main problem is that although each area has their own registered taxis there are only a few for each area, there's 5 in the Rojales and and they are for the Quesada area as well (What a big area for ONLY 5 taxi's??!!) and even less in some of the other nearby areas, as you can see from the list above.

:angry-soapbox:

I love Spain and the Costa Blanca but it is infuriating at times.

Was it the same taxi on the return because if so there should be no 'boundary'? I've never heard of a boundary charge.
Try David from Quesada taxis next time, he should be able to give a price for both ways if possible. It's only when the areas are separate jurisdictions ,like Quesada to Torrevieja etc that two taxis are necessary. so I've been told.

Hi apparently there is no boundary charge it is illegal for them to do it!! I asked Quesada taxi for a price to and from Los Montesinos and they told me that they can only do one way because of boundary's and I need to book with Montesinos taxi for the return.

Cheers

We will try David Quesada Taxi,s on our return, it was a Taxi from the Guadamar area that collected us,when we disputed the charge he produced a printed A4 with various rates and journeys.
We felt there was no choice in the matter, but with the advice here we will be better prepared next time. Thanks for the replies.
