Art Classes

Art Classes

Postby Drama Queen » Sun Nov 20, 2011 10:18 pm

I have been teaching art in the area for eight years and currently have classes on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at Lo Marabu Restaurant (10.30-12.45...7euros per class.) Beginners are very welcome and will be taught drawing for the first few weeks, before moving on to pastels, watercolour, acrylics or oils.
See www.sue-stokes.co.uk for more information. I hope to see you there!

hi Jan, maybe I should have read all the posts before replying to the earlier one re "Suzanne Stokes" . As you can see, I've just discovered this one too! I'm assuming that Talk Quesada is for people in Quesada who want to help each other by sharing good/bad experiences, give information/advice etc. and all on the basis of "not for personal gain". If people want to advertise their goods and services I would prefer that it was in a different section which was appropriately labelled as such and that you, Jan as owner of the Site had the right to charge them for it.

I would be interested in others' views.

Hi Maria Elena,
I understand your comments and I agree with you. I do not know Suzanne either but her profile indicates she is from Quesada. Therefore, I hope that she will contribute to discussions in other ways that are not associated with her Art classes & other ventures. This ‘upcoming events ‘section is separate from the discussion forums for this reason; to be used to let us all know ‘what’s going on’ around the area, such as entertainment, classes, clubs etc.

My vision for TalkQuesada forum was, and still is, for it to be refreshingly free from commercial and business advertising. Like you, I have also seen on other forums how, for instance, the lists of properties from Agents can take over and spoil the discussion forums, often leading to complaints and putting ‘true’ forum members off using the forums. With careful monitoring we will not let this happen.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I will certainly keep my eye on any ‘thin wedges’ and not let them grow.

Jan.

Why is it any different to promote an art class - than to drum up business for the various quizzes and restaurants already mentioned? If activities are being promoted, surely that's what people want to know about - especially local ones. And yes, of course I want to contribute to other threads. I'm just not sure why I've been picked out as some sort of trouble maker, when I teach a few people art each week. By the way my husband runs a camera class...dare he mention it one this forum or not?

Hi Suzanne,

I am happy for you to post in the ‘upcoming events’ section, that’s what it’s there for, and to describe your interests in the Introduction section. I’m sure we all want to know what’s on in the Quesada area.

Quesada is the place we all have an interest in and the regeneration of the area, after the last few years of recession, is good for everyone. Therefore, I am pleased for this site to drum up business for all restaurants, bars, entertainment, clubs & classes etc. in and around Quesada (if that’s what it does).

As I said in a previous posting, I do agree with Maria Elena’s concern that business/commercial advertisers are flooding other discussion forums and not to want it to overflow into ours, but I am so sorry that you feel you have been unfairly singled out and wrongly associated with this problem.

I certainly have no problem with your Art Classes & Amateur Dramatics being shown in the correct section of TalkQuesada, which they are.

Please continue to use & enjoy the forum.

Jan.

Hi Jan, I agree with Maria. There should be seperate sections for chat amongst people and advertising services etc. I left the "a Spanish Life" forum for just that reason. An estate agent was flooding all sections with her adverts of properties for sale and spoiled things. Rob

I am glad we are all in agreement Rob. None of us want advertisers spoiling the discussion forums.

However, this is in the Upcoming Events section to tell us what's on around Quesada ie. clubs, classes, entertainment etc. If we disallow the postings on this section, we will not know what's going on around us. There are separate forums for discussions within TalkQuesada.

I don't think a separate section for advertisers, such as Estate Agents etc, would be a good idea on TalkQuesada.......they can stay on the existing websites that allow them to post.

Please be assured that I will do my best to keep all TalkQuesada discussion forums free from the advertising concerns that we all have.
