Country Shows

are there any events similar to the English Country Shows anywhere?
It would be useful for those involved in crafts and the arts, cooking, baking, photography etc etc to have an event where friendly competition could thrive

There's always the monthly arts & crafts encounters at the caves...
Anyone can participate as long as their products are all hand made.
We sometimes have folk that make cheese, cakes, etc. as well as the normal type craft & art stalls.
The arts association just need to know at least 3 days in advance and you have to comply with their rules of course - which I can provide a rough English translation - but basically these say you provide your own display needs, remove your vehicles from the site before the start and all products must be hand-made.
Next market is evening of Saturday 9th July from 7pm till late - although I suspect it will tend to get going nearer 8 dependent on the heat - and as it gets dark (around 10ish) you would also need to bring lights & extension leads to reach their power outlets.

I understand the market concept but I am talking country show concept where it's a competition where nothing is bought or sold
The idea is to make things, ie cakes, jams, artwork, sewing etc etc etc
The items are then judged and, generally, rosettes given for first, second etc, sort of Olympic Games for art, crafts and cooking
It's not a market it's a competition that's what I am looking for
