Rojales Gastronomy Fortnight

Rojales is hosting a Gastronomy Fortnight from today 31st January to 14th February (See poster below).

The literal translation is "Gastronomy of the spoon" but if Google translate is used it's 'Gastronomy of the Bucket'.

For those hearty eaters, including my husband, a 'bucket' might be preferred.

I have a copy of the set menu for each restaurant but they are on PDF and are on a number of pages of very large files. I don't have time to reduce them down at the moment to put on the forum but the dates for the restaurants' taking part are :

The Mayor has written an introduction to the event :
PRIMERA JORNADA
GASTRONÓMICA DE LA
CUCHARA
Siendo así de simple, la comida de
cuchara es aquella que se come con ese
cubierto y se refiere a platos de toda
la vida, sustanciosos y reconfortantes, y
que son una garantía de que en casa de
uno se cocina como antaño ; lentejas,
habichuelas, garbanzos, y otras comidas
de verduras de esta tierra, como pueden
ser los “arcaciles”, habas, “bleas”,
cebollas,etc. Hay comidas de esta clase
que nos retrotraen a épocas ya pasadas
y que fueron el sustento de tantas generaciones
que ponían todo su empeño y
su saber hacer en extraer de la tierra aquellos
productos que, a la vez, las servían de alimento.
¿Quién, de cierta edad, puede olvidar “ la
olla viuda”, “el arroz con habas y arcaciles y
ajos”, “la sémola con las mismas verduras que
la anterior”, “el arroz clarico de vigilia o con
carne”o las las buenísimas “tortillas en caldo”,
“el trigo picao o “el cocido con pelotas”, etc.
por citar sólo algunos ejemplos?. En fin, comidas
de cuchara que, con el paso del tiempo,
han llegado a ser un auténtico placer para el
paladar de aquellas personas que pertenecen
a generaciones más próximas.
Continuando con esta tradición gastronómica,
los establecimientos que se citan a
continuación van poner en valor la manera de
hacer aquellas comidas de cuchara que antaño
se hacían en las casas y con las mismas garantías
de sabor, de sustancia y de placer para el
paladar. Dichos establecimientos son. Hotel la
Laguna, Restaurante Sierra Golf, Restaurante
Josemar, Cervecería Spirit, Tu Cantina, Mesón
la Noria, Tasca de Miguel, Casa Antonio, Amstelería,
Restaurante Hierro Uno y Don Carlos.

Looks good, if a little pricey considering wine isn't included. The food on offer is quite a good representation of local regional cuisine (and pretty much what any Spanish Restaurant offers in any "Menu Del Dia" for around €9 including a drink)

Only conjecture

Hello Ozzy,
I thought it seemed a bit expensive for simple traditional Spanish cuisine but was thinking that the price might include drinks. I would have thought that 9 or 10 euros a head, with at least a glass of wine or soft drink, would have been better for an event that would be hoping to entice people into the restaurants. It is a bit of advertising for the eateries concerned after all.

Thanks for the link - Makes a change for the Rojales Town Hall website to have some up to date information. (They are still advertising the 2011 Fiestas' - can't wait for them! )

Don't know who Mr Singh is (???) but it would be good to get that big unit opened as a restaurant, whatever type of food it is - We do need some more choice around the Consum area.
