These things have been dragged out of the river in Rojales..

Hi...The strange things are gadgets to Oxegenate the river water.Many years ago the river under and around the the Old bridge in Rojales stunk to high Heaven in the Summer months. These gadgets were introduced to keep the water moving and thus reducing the smell.

Hi they are for water aeration this is the process of increasing the oxygen saturation of the water to keep fish alive when oxygen levels are low.

Up until 2 yrs ago there was a large oxygen bulk tank installed in a compound to feed into the river , there was a bouy in the river as well , possibly to mark these items .

Yes they suck water in at bottom I believe and it comes out of the spout which is above water which aerates it.
Also keeps the silt mobile rather than creating the large mudflats we've been seeing recently near the town hall.
There are/were 2 larger ones of those, one either side of the bridge, but stopped working a couple of years ago.
It's part of a big project by the river authority to clean our section of the river.
