Christmas in Quesada.

Christmas in Quesada.

Postby DAB » Sun Oct 08, 2017 7:37 pm

Is Christmas good time to visit Quesada ?
My wife and I are looking to move to Spain next year. Quesada one of places we like the look of.
60th birthday on Christmas Eve. Thought we might come for a week, get a feel of the area.
Keen golfer, so looked at the golf hotel.
Any suggestions / advice would be much appreciated.

Although we normally arrive on boxing day or the 27th (so can't comment on Christmas itself) it's one of our favourite times of year and, over recent years, we've been blessed with bright, beautiful, tranquil weather for the week
Young family means we generally spend new year at home but the fireworks have always been amazing - we're lucky enough to have a good view
Pace is slower, coast is sleepy but operating, space in bars and restaurants but not deserted
Spaniards parading in their winter finery, us northerners still in shorts and sweats, Torrevieja charming with lovely display in the church square - Belén Monumental de Torrevieja - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25FEujgPoqM
Just magic (IMO) kids have even been in the sea the last few years!
I know there will be different opinions but, for us, highly recommended if you want to slow things down without stopping

...and golf hotel is also nice (assume La Laguna) - stayed a few times whilst we were looking round and always enjoyed, not too close to the course though (5 - 10 mins drive) but I guess they'll prob transfer or there are loads of good priced car hires through this page and google

We love it here. Been living here about 6.5 years. My partner plays golf - there are a lot of golf societies here based at local bars. My partner, Kev, plays with one on the 3rd Friday of every month - in December it's the 15th December at Bonalba golf course - guests can play and it costs 43€ including golf buggy. The guys meet up in Quesada and all share cars then it's back here afterwards for a snack and a beer if you fancy joining them. Then we normally meet up with the partners. It's chilled over the Christmas period but the weather has been lovely just chilly in the evenings. There are bbqs and music on the beach on Christmas day or just wander to the local bars or book for a meal. New year we normally go to Becks bar by the town hall for free entry anda great night. Good luck whatever you decide to do and if you fancy the golf or any other information then private message me amd I will be glad to help.

Much nicer than Christmas in UK. No where near as commercialised as the UK nor does it go on for months on end!! And the weather is better.
