Paint for outside wall

Paint for outside wall

Postby Russell » Wed Nov 22, 2017 7:38 pm

Can someone please advise me on the best paint for coating an outside wall white. I've been advised there's a product that you can roll on that gives a skimmed like finish. Where would anyone recommend purchasing wall paint from . (Quesada / Benimar area)

The paint shop next to the indoor market in Formentera (next to Lumsdens auction) are really helpful or Quesada colours next to the chip shop in Quesada. The one in formentera has every kind of paint you would need.

I would 2nd that....definitely the paint shop on the right as you enter Formentera, alongside the Lumsdens Auction place.

There are several places. The DIY at the back of Consum has a good selection and, again, very helpful. The new one up by Gama is not so good. Quesada colours also has a paint mixing machine so can mix any colour you want.
"Skimming" is done by applying a layer of plaster (or mud) first and then paining. Quite laborious.
"Stippling" is giving it a slight raised effect and you need the proper brushes for this, they look a bit like a floor scrubbing brush with a handle.
The guy at Quesada colours would be able to give you better advice on this.

Definitely the Formenta paint shop, they advised me to use a plastic type of paint for my outside walls, 5 years on it still looks like it was done yesterday. All the red sand and bird droppings wash off with warm soapy water leaving the paint shiny as new.

Manxman is correct, the plasticized paint is dearer but will last for years, and is washable.

You get what you pay for with paint, the guys at Formentera are great, top quality at a reasonable price& always gives you a couple of sanding blocks free, nice little touch, their white gloss paint for balustrades is brilliant, still looks like new after 2 years.
