I used to be with SOLBANK, until they got took over by SABADELL. In 2016 our charges averaged out at 12.58E per month, and it was 12.58E again in 2017. Our average so far this year is 16.53E per month.

I thought I was paying rather a lot but compared to other posters mine seems much less.

Non resident. BankInter. Man & wife joint account =
Admin charge = E22.50 x2
Non resident fee = E36.30 x2
Bank card x1 = E25.00
Total = E142.60 pa. // E11.88 per month

Even cheaper as you non-resident fee should only be every 2 years.

If you only use your Spanish bank account to pay bills and you can pay said bills online using a debit card there are a couple of alternatives to not having a Spanish bank account and they are free to use. The downside is that you have pay them separately every month as there is no direct debit service available.
One is the revelut card that you top up in sterling and can pay out in any currency, and can be managed on line or via a smart phone.

Another is either Transferwise or Transferwise Borderless Account.

Those of us who are living/used to live in UK are used to completely free banking whilst the rest of Europe are used to paying some banking fees, so it comes as somewhat of a shock to be paying circa 100€ per annum for banking services in Spain.

We who are resident in Spain can still enjoy totally free banking, we are with Sabadell who are, for us, excellent. We deposit a minimum of 700€ per month and everything is free.

And with Bankia it is 200 euro a month and banking is free. I think it has to be a pension or salary, though.
