It seems the agent found the cheapest installer he/she could find. Maybe cash in hand and no recourse.
Nevertheless, I am sure you have rights and would have expected a proper installation by a reputable company. I dare say that is what you paid for?
As an example, I had an air-con unit by Don De last year for 599 Euros. If you paid something like that, then you should expect a good unit, professionally installed.
As others suggested, you should tell the agent that if they do not remedy the situation within say 2 weeks, you will arrange it yourself and send them the bill. Also tell them you are going to name and shame them on Talk Quesada and will also tell your friends and acquaintances. It is likely that if you are badly treated, you will tell ten people. Those ten people will tell ten people and now a hundred people know, and so it goes on. It would be very bad for their business.
Finally, you should keep that picture of evidence of the shoddy work.
Good luck!

Jo6677 wrote:We had an air conditioning unit installed as per agreement of the sale by the agent we purchased the property off. There installers have run the cable down the centre of the wall in full display where it then plugs into an extension cable. The cable has a big join of grey insulating tape right in the middle. In the UK I know I can get this changed however I don't know if we have any similar rights in Spain. The agent is saying there is nothing they can do. Is this right?
Any help greatly received!
I note that you say you have given the estate agent a last chance to rectify this issue: that's a good idea, but if they continue to say that nothing can be done, ask them for a Formal Complaint form. Under Spanish law, it's illegal for them to refuse to provide you with this form - if they refuse, threaten to call the Policia Local. This is usually enough to get them to comply, but if they don't, DO call the police, they are used to dealing with such matters (have your photos of the shoddy work to hand). Don't let the agent make it your responsibility to liaise with the installers direct, if they contracted the works on your behalf, it's their responsibility to resolve it.
Here's a link to how to complete the complaint form:

Good luck!
