Postby gillylee » Fri Aug 04, 2017 11:33 am

Hi can any give me an idea why Iberola have taken a direct debit from our account in june July and August . Thought payment was every 2 month for electricity. Can't do much about it yet not over till end of August. Any info or ideas on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.

They have started billing monthly. In our case it co-incided with having a smart meter fitted too.

One of two reasons. Either you have had a smart meter fitted so billing is now monthly or you are on the annual plan which takes a fixed amount out each month and either gives you a refund in October or increases next year's monthly bill if you are in debit.

7 years? Iberdrola only awarded the contract for the fitting of smart meters in July 2012 in the Alicante province. The rollout for Comunidad Valenciana only started in September 2013 so, even if you had the very first smart meter to be fitted in the whole of the Alicante province (which I doubt) then it would just be coming up to 4 years.
Ours have been in about 6 months.

Smart meters are being fitted all over the area at the moment. You wouldn't even know about it if you weren't there as it can only take a few minutes of power down for them to do it. As you have only just started getting the bills monthly then that is the logical reason.
The Iberdrola office in Guardamar (Calle de Madalaneta 9 ) had English speakers there when we went to see them about 4 years ago.
