Utility bills

Utility bills

Postby TonTri » Thu Nov 24, 2016 1:34 pm

Hi there

The electricity and water suppliers for the apartment we are buying are Iberdrola and Hidraqua. Do they send bills by email or do they only post them?

The reason is that we arent planning on being there during the summer months and need to make sure we pay our bills on time.

Set up a direct debit then you won't have to worry about paying them on time.

Yes we pay by direct debit. In my opinion there is no better way as we know it's always paid and our Spanish bank sends us a statement to the UK where we can see what we've paid.

Just make sure you keep enough in your account, because of that we set up a fixed monthly amount with Iberdrola, paid the same every Money, at the end of the year if you are in arrears you don't have to pay it off but they will divide the outstanding balnce by 12 (months) -!: you will pay your fixed amount.plus your arrears. Obviously then makes sense to increase your monthly fixed mount.

Makes sense Anniep as we dont have a clue what our usage will be for the first year, so it will make it easier to budget.

Your solicitor may well set up your direct debits for you! The Hidraqua bill should be delivered to the apartment.

Registering online with Iberdrola will be fine (we managed it), but best of luck trying to register online with Hidraqua...
