If you are looking for something to do a bit crazy after Christmas, try this fiesta in Ibi on the day of the innocents.
(Ibi is about an hour's drive of the A30 Madrid motorway, and known for it's toys & toy museum.)

The Day of the Innocents (28th December) is the Spanish equivalent of British April Fool's day, and each year on this day, the town is taken over by an army of participants who have to dress in some sort of military uniform.

Early in the morning they have a contest to choose a new mayor for the day and sides are drawn up ready for the battle to commence sharp at 10am.

They then proceed to literally batter the town and each other, throwing eggs and flour.
(And when they run out they continue with foam fire extinguishers and squibs & other fireworks!)
