This will save a lot of time and frustration but is everyone aware it isn't just a case of having the licence? The law states that you then have to make a quarterly tax return for the property in Spain and also you have to get a User number and password from the police and advise them online of the names and addresses of everyone going in dates arriving/leaving and do this for every single rental!!

Thanks Joanne, I know that, I already have my licence. But once you have your licence where do you get your username and password from for the Guest Register database and how much do you charge for that part of it?

Which site are you using? I have tried both Policia Nacional and Guardia Civil and can't find a way to register on either of them and I am pretty competent with the internet. They only give me the option of entering a username and password or changing the password but not registering.

You are required by law to supply the Guardia Civil with the personal data of your paying holiday rental guests, within 24 hours after their arrival. THIS is the form to use, as published in the State Bulletin. You are supposed to keep these records for 3 years. You can either present in person, or send by fax, or present online. If there is no Guardia post in your village, you can also present by ordinary mail. You then need to post 2 copies and will get one stamped copy back.
More info and links to online registers HERE. But you need to visit the Guardia in your village first, to inform them how you will communicate the data of your guests (some will allow you to send the form by email as well) and if online, you will need to apply for a usercode and password to access the register (¨Alta en el sistema¨). You will need to fill out a form there. Downloadable HERE.

One of our members was kind enough to share a copy of the form with instructions in English. You can download it HERE. Please note that some fields are too small to fill in on the computer, so best to add them by hand once you’ve printed the form. * TIPO = P = PASSPORT (Most used ID by expats) * Fecha de Nacimiento = Date of Birth. * Transmisión de fichero vía internet = You register your guests via their form on the webpage.

The other options to the right are ‘ordinary mail or in person’ and ‘ by fax’. Direct link to online register Guardia Civil HERE.
