Get up as early as the light shining through your open window (mozzie nets installed of course) wakes you. But the night before put the aircon on (I like 22' but my husband has his on 24'!) for about half an hour before you go to bed. Dont go too early as you'll only wake up sweltering in the night! If you have got a modern aircon there is usually a quiet switch on it and a thermostat if you choose to keep it on all night (with windows shut and blinds down, keeping noises and light out is the advantage of that of course). What we do is put it on when we go to sleep and then switch it off in the very early hours and open up the windows and doors upstairs in the hope of a through draft and of course, to cut down the time the aircon is on. Take water to bed of course and keep having sips when you wake up in the night, even it means you have to get up to the loo! You can always switch on the overhead ceiling fans to save on electricity of the aircon when you need them!

Very few shops etc open here until 9am but if you can get there at that time you will feel the benefit! Lidl's is well stocked on a Monday at that time (now everyone will be there!).

Do your jobs and housework as early as you can! Put your outside sun blinds down before the sun gets round. Also bedroom blinds down before the sun hits the room. Downstairs keep your doors and windows open (honestly can say having mozzie blinds all round was best investment we ever made!) to get the through draft. An overhead ceiling fan is a boon in the lounge instead of having to shut all the windows and doors and put expensive aircon on. But, there are times (if you have company etc) when you really need the lounge to be super cool.

Dont sit outside too much, never in the sun! Drink loads and regularly top up with Flectamin from the chemist and/or Aquarius lemon or orange drink. They both contain mineral salts lost through the skin at this time of year. Flectamin is the best and has revived me within 5 minutes after a housework session!

Try and have a salad meal every day and dont eat main meal too late at night like the Spanish do, as we arent used to it and it lies heavy! Hope this helps, we've been here 10 years and its taken us more or less all that time to learn this! Alternatively escape back to UK for July and August if you can! Good luck!
