Where can I buy genuine Saffron, please?

Where can I buy genuine Saffron, please?

Postby RogerB » Tue Sep 12, 2017 10:46 pm

I have a friend in Cyprus who has asked me to take her some when I go.
It's important that it is not a cheap substitute.

Thanks in advance.

I think all the supermarkets sell Saffron, even Lidl. Azafran. If you buy the stigmas instead of the powdered you can be pretty certain it's the genuine stuff.

Like above post states most stores carry saffron. However, if your friend want spanish saffron from La Mancha which is the best it can be a little hard to find in this area but it can be ordered online on http://www.spanishoponline.com/azafran- ... a-pdo.html

I was looking for Liquorice.. the genuine stuff, not the black toffees or the powder..

I looked all over, Habeneras, Torrevieja and all points between...

I finally found some... on the stall in Rojales market... sold loose in a big bag from which he decants it as required..

I know it is not saffron, but might be worth a look..

Just FYI, I found the 'Spanishshoponline', mentioned above, was very expensive, compared with 'azafanesmanchegos', from whom I have ordered. The former appears to be a retailer, and the latter a producer with a retail outlet.

(So in the end i answered my own question ) LOL
