I am a pretty competent surfer but cannot find out how to do the above. Also why does it say this???

Hi there

If your item has been sold then you can edit the original post and add "Sold" to the subject.

If you'd like your for sale post removed then the best thing to do is email or private message myself or Jan and we can do that for you.

Let me know when you see that error message and I'll look into it

Thanks

Alex

Hi There,
I realised that a 'sold ' tag is quite common but I didn't want the site to be clogged up as I see with irrelevant posts. It is a waste of time ploughing through these when there are so many pages. I am not going to go through 31 pages as I see now. I understand that many will have just not bothered to advise sold or not as they go back to Sunday April 15 2012 6:36pm. I don't have the time so would rather refrain and be put off. Perhaps it needs to be rethought with this feed-back.
I would like both of my for sale posts removed.
What's the difference between 'submit' & 'Full editor'?

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your feedback. We are always open to suggestions.

Everyone who posts on our free forum with items for sale, has the option to write Sold on the subject of their original topic or tell us that they would like the item topic removed from the forum. We do have a message reminding people to put SOLD on their items, at the top of the For Sale forum - See this link : items-for-sale-and-wanted-in-and-around-quesada-f36/reminder-to-update-the-topic-when-your-item-has-been-sold-t3604.html

This is a fast flowing forum and as this is a free service we do not always have time to keep reminding everyone to do this. It would be safe to guess that most items 'For Sale' where the advert is more than a few months old and certainly longer than that would already be Sold but it cannot be assumed by us in Admin. All posts are in date order with the most recent first.

In reply to your other question - If you use the 'Quick reply' function at the bottom of any topic, you can just write a message and click Submit - However this 'Quick Reply' does not give you as many functions as the Full Editor. Therefore while you are writing a quick reply you may decide you need 'Full Editor' after all and can click Full Editor to continue your message or click Full Editor before you even start writing.

I see you are relatively new to the forum, so have a click around and see how it works.

Hope this helps.

We will remove your For Sale item topics asap.

 I tend to agree with Pioneer, just what is the point of a 2 year old For Sale post.
I do recognise the need for the Informative posts to be collated together as a source of information but see no purpose in a For Sale post 6 months old.
There must be a good reason why one cannot delete your own posts but at present I cannot think of it.
It must be time consuming for Jan or Alex to have to do this, perhaps this is why there are so many older posts still active. There are more than 500 posts in the For Sale section older than 4 months.

To Jan & Alex - Do not take this as criticsm of the Forum, I think it is great and use it continually.

Hi all. Very good points made. We will have a think about how to make that section more useable. I think the main problem is that only a minority of people update the post to say it's sold, so it's difficult to know if it's still for sale or not.

But for those that do get sold we will think about how to deal with those. Maybe after a week they should be deleted? (To allow time for people to see it's sold)

I would just like to add some information to Alex's post above:

The delete Topic facility is unavailable because most Topics have replies and, for obvious reasons, members would not be able to delete other peoples posts at the same time, which could leave disjointed posts.

We had a member once who decided, for whatever reason, to delete all their topics and posts and it caused chaos on the forum. It left multi topics with no start point and very disjointed and confusing posts. It must have took them ages to do and sadly it spoilt the forum for everyone and took us in Admin a long time to sort it out, when we realised what had happened - Therefore, there was a good reason for us to remove that facility.

Thanks for all the suggestions - As Alex has said we will try to remove all Sold topics after a week or so of them being Sold from now on.
