Just a thought, so all the EU citizens who’ve taken residence in the UK have taken the British driving test have they ?......... I don’t think so

Stay safe all.

They don't need to, as the UK honours their EU licence and allows them to use it (provided certain criteria are met) in the same way that Spain and other EU countries honour UK licences at the moment. They can also exchange their EU licence for a UK one without needing to take a test, in the same way that UK licence holders resident in Spain can exchange their UK licence for a Spanish one, without taking a test.

After Brexit the UK may no longer recognise driving licences from EU countries, in the same way that those EU countries may no longer recognise UK licences. We don't know yet.

If we do end-up in that situation then anyone who is an EU citizen resident in the UK, driving on an EU licence may need to take a UK test to obtain a UK licence.

I really doubt that it will come to that, but then I didn't think that we'd vote for Brtexit, or that Donald Trump would become president, or that pigs would fly.

No we don't, which is where the thread started in the first place.
I think the original advice, for UK licence holders who are resident in Spain to swap their licence before 31st March, is a sensible precaution though.

You should read this:

If you aren't a member of the Costa Blanca Forum (it’s a sister forum to this one) then you should join it.
There’s a long list of these “Jim’s Guides” which are an invaluable source of information.
