The only "caving in" I've seen is from any credible, leading Brexiters to have the courage to lead from the front rather than sniping from the back.

Anyone with a few hours (or a few days) can plough through the draft agreement which was accepted by the cabinet today (well, most of them).
Of course, this is only a draft and has to be okayed by our parliament and the parliaments of all the other 27 countries in the EU so don't hold your breath.
The document references loads of other EU regulations so is a bit hard going. Not exactly in legalese but a bit difficult to follow.
Good news would be no visas (just passports) and the right of those already resident in Spain (or any other EU country) would be protected provided the residency has been accepted before the end of the transition period (which is about 2 years after we leave in March next year).

Best of Luck if You're Reading This

Further on the above agreement.
The UK has issued help guidance on the Brexit process and how it may (or may not) affect those Brits living in Spain.

UK Gov on Brexit

It doesn't say much more than we already know (like, nobody knows what will happen, get your resident status and so on) but I did have a bit of a chuckle over this bit:

  • EU countries may require you as a UK national and your family members covered by the agreement to apply for a residency document or status conferring the right of residence
  • administrative procedures for these applications will be transparent, smooth and streamlined

I wonder if the bit in bold has really been thought about by anyone who knows the system in Spain (or France for that matter).
