Full (ish) van hire - UK to Quesada

Postby phild » Thu Jan 16, 2020 5:45 pm

Hi all,

looking for an average cost for probably a full long wheel base transit sized van to move the usual settee, TVs, white goods and stuff from Leeds, Yorkshire to spain in late August this year.

Bit of an early call on this, but unsure whether to do a 1 way van hire or get a man with van to do it.

Cheers
Phil

We used a website called "Shiply" to search for a courier to take ours. Used them twice over the last 10 years. You regisre with them ( free) then put on a post about what you want to move, where from, where to & when. Then companies pat what they will charge you -- becomes like a bit of an auction - they reduce their prices to get your custom.
In April we had contents of our home sent over, just our contents in one vehicle, picked up on the Saturday we flew out the Sunday and van arrived Monday afternoon.
We paid £250 online to Shipley then 550euros to driver on delivery of goods.
Hassle free, but we did have all our goods bubble wrapped and ready to load for van arriving and also helped with the loading and unloading - so monitoting how goods handled.

That sounds reasonable, and cheaper than a self drive 1 way hire.

Did you get alternative delivery dates, as we will be driving over and that usually takes us 3 days or so.

thanks

Phil's --- we needed it to be there asap so never queried alternative delivery dates. Once registered on the site each you can reply to each courier who replied and ask all sorts of questions. We actually could have got it transported cheaper but it would have been a part load on a bigger vehicle.
