Interesting video from Channel 4 with interviews with ex pats in Spain

Quote:
"British expats living in Spain have been urged to register before the 29th of March to make sure the Spanish authorities recognise their residency after the UK leaves the EU. But in the event of a no-deal Brexit, what then?

Many of those who've retired abroad are facing unanswered questions about their rights to healthcare, freedom of movement and even their ability to keep pets.

We have been to Spain to speak to the Brits facing an uncertain future. "

Two and a half years on, only 46 days to go and we still don´t know what how Brexit will affect expats...

What a shambles...

I am sure that in the local press it was quoted that the Spanish had no intention of changing the current healthcare after the UK leave the EU.

Provided UK agrees not to charge Spanish citizens living in the UK.

Having Residencia only allows us to remain in Spain beyond the 90 days. My thought is that having Residencia after Brexit would mean that we can only enter and exit Spain by air or direct sea links to the UK. Why?

At the moment when we go back to the UK we drive through France. This post Brexit scenario is possible.

I drive off the train on 30 March in Calais hand over my passport to the Gendarmes who scan the document. We then saunter down through France and pass into Spain over a Schengen border to return to our house.

In December we chose to return to England to see the family before Christmas. We, once we cross the Schengen border into France, one again, we casually glide though France and again, hand our passports in at Calais.

What happens next as, technically, we’ve been in France for over 90 days, we’ve overstayed our welcome. Our Residencia is a Spanish document and holds no legality in France. Are we hauled of to face the courts and deportation?

We let most people get away with not paying UK at the moment so I doubt that will change after Brexit.

At the moment nothing is sure.. we hear from Brexiteers... surely.. maybe, we used to,,, should do, if..normally.. if... if... if ...

The fact is that NOTHING has been agreed..nothing on health, nothing on pensions, nothing on transfers of money, nothing on pensions, nothing on travel etc..

That is fact... not scaremongering ... unless you are not interested in truth.
