Everyone has a view on Brexit. Nobody including those in any Govt. actually knows the outcome of Brexit. No doubt, EU members are closely monitoring us and may decide to follow UK's lead in the future.
There is a lot of scaremongering particularly for the thousands of EU nationals that have made the UK their adopted home and the expats that have done the same in the EU country of their choice. The Govt. should be clear about this concern ASAP.
I believe the main reason for Brexit was for UK to get back control of our nation including border control.
I have no issue with EU nationals coming to the UK. as long as they are not entitled to benefits of any kind for the first 4 years.
Surely everyone must be aware of the continual stress of problems (jobs, housing, etc) for people already living in the UK.
I believe that these issues in the UK should be satisfactorily sorted out first before assisting EU nationals that may have similar concerns.
Variety is the spice of life. Only if you can afford it.

Absolutely, unfortunately the house of lords are trying to take away a great bargaining chip by demanding rights for EU citizens already in the UK. Yes of course they should be allowed to remain but it must be reciprocal

excellent post florimondo...it is such common sense....why can,t our MPs and Lords see it?
I suppose its about projecting their "holier-than-thou" credentials to those european barbarians who won'discuss recipricosity until article 50 is triggered.
I am afraid these sort of politicians make us a laughing stock.

If the UK are waiting for the EU to promise reciprocal agreements, and the EU is waiting for the UK to do the same... it looks like we could be waiting a long time..
What would be wrong with the UK saying..." we are the good guys.. we WILL look after our ex-pats in the EU..after all, they are British citizens and we jolly well should..and If the EU does not reciprocate we will take steps accordingly... but we will look after our own.."

trouble is mondo, some of our MPs and the Lords are saying we WILL look after the EU citizens in the UK...and merely...repeat merely...URGE the Eu to do the same for our expats!!
That is a quote from Labour,s Hilary Benn by the way...daft as his father!
Talk about sending our people naked into the negotiating chamber!

My opinion only Haha ,
If the goverment actually gave everyone the truth prior to the vote this would not have happened.
To many lies were told and to many people thought that voting to leave would stop all the imigrations .
But the people of Scotland had it right vote to stay .
Just have to wait now to see what happens.
Good luck to all

So what is wrong with the UK saying we WILL look after our own....
... then if an EU country won't do the same we ban their people from help from the UK..
So what is wrong with that?....

The problem is Mondo that the House of Lords want it written into our law [before we start article 50] that we must guarantee the rights of EU citizens in Britain. If it is law then we cant change that, and the EU does not have to afford the same rights to British abroad .So we need to go into negotiations on a equal footing

Flori, the House of Lords can want it but can't demand it. It will be ignored as Theresa May has the numbers in the end
