I think that if you don't plan to work and accept that you may need to have health insurance you should be fine. People retire all over world after all and it is just a case of meeting requirements for retirees in that particular country. Scubydoo is correct- the climate is great, property prices good and the cost of living is low. We had no qualms and have no regrets post Brexit.

Spain's economy is contributed by the Brits to the tune of 4%. They do not want us leaving or stopping buying property.
There is also a reciprocal agreement in place presently for healthcare, which is likely to remain. At the moment due to the amount of the additional costs of healthcare for older UK individuals in Spain, the English government already contribute the extra to the Spanish government for the healthcare costs for the expats. Don't think this will change as there is really no reason to & Spain doesn't want to lose the business and the UK does not want a few hundred thousand pensioners back!
To live, best to come out and look around - there are plenty of areas near Torre, which also have expat populations and (my opinion only, are a little nicer). Quesada, Guardamar (classier / nicer beach), Rojales, Los Montesinos etc.....worth having a little look around. Torrevieja is not terrible, just a bit run down in places and overbuilt. Also depends whether you will be driving - as this will be a factor in choosing.

Not sure I'd trust a UK Government to continue paying for healthcare of Ex Pats. They may need the money themselves. The Brexit lot wanted to keep as much money within the UK.
Not sure how private healthcare works if you have existing conditions or just get older. They have to make a profit after all.

The health care arrangements are nothing to do with the EU, it is between UK and Spain, unlikely to change. EHIC is different.

Well said VM. I don't think the uk govt would want thousands of elderly Brits bouncing back as it would probably be a much larger strain on the NHS than the amount they pay Spain instead
We moved here in November and definitely recommend the Queseda / Rojales area in fact anywhere north of Torrevieja.
Renting first is the best idea which gives you time to see it in summer and winter. We love winter here, weather is better than winter, low 20's sunny, quieter, cheaper ( do prices rise in summer ?) as gas said its hot now, very hot and you have to factor that in (aircon a must)
All in all a great retirement home

I personally wouldnt consider buying anything with the pound being utterly worthless and getting worse
I got an email from an agent I was registered with saying properties are selling faster than ever since brexit.
Utter horse manure. Properties have gone up 15% since brexit. Anyone buying needs to reserve the rate now, I bet there are a lot of people who signed a contract a couple of weeks ago and are about to complete and getting a huge shock when they realise 100,000e now costs £88,000 instead of £79,000.
All of this aside I think the Torrevieja area is fabulous and its the best thing we ever did, however the £ is just to volatile, if you are prepared to proceed with a worthless £ you may get a deal.
