I do not see the connection. I was referring to the comment that we are all in favor of Scottish independence.

The Highlands and Islands are non too keen on Scottish independence, so it's quite possible that they may well seek independence from Scotland, after all, the oil is their's!

Well I have never said that we are all in favour of Scottish independence, and I certainly dont want it. My original post I stated quite clearly that I was in favour of the UK, I also stated that I didnt think that Scotland could survive outside the union and the EU, we seem to be at cross purposes here.......

I thin kthat the point is that the SNP have asked for a referendum, the outcome will be anyone's guess...my guess is that it will be the same as the last one...remain in the union I certainly hope so...

Unfortunately you don't seem to realise the independence vote is not an anti English vote, it is a vote for self determination. Scotland is governed by a Tory government that would never be voted in, in Scotland. An independent Scotland as part of the ECC is a more attractive option.

If that did not work, Scotland could choose to be an independent nation with self determination.

I don't understand why England are so determined to hold onto a union forged by subjugation.

Subjugation?

My reading of history tells me that Scotland, in its envy of other European nation's Empires, sought to undertake its own Empire building in South America. The enterprise failed and left Scotland bankrupt, the Union was created following the Scots approach to Westminster.

The romanticised history that some Scots embrace is, sadly, wrong.

Yes, that would be the Darien project brought about by the monopoly of the East Indaia company. That was founded for the benefit of the ruling English class as still prevails

Aye, the Darien project, which conflicted with The East India Company's interests as well as Spain's. The East India Company used its influence with foreign investors in the project to withdraw. Coupled with this, war with Spain was a possibility if the Darien project was pursued.

The Scottish landed aristocracy and mercants, the same people who wanted to embark on the project, now approached London to seek to have their debts erased and seek the Union.

So you see, it wasn't greedy Englishman forcing Scots into a Union but, a few misguided Scots who, by their actions, accepted the Union through their folly.
