I think the exit negotiations should have been agreed before the referendum. What were people voting on?

Did you know what you were voting for when you voted remain?
I knew what I was voting for when I voted leave.
What´s the problem?

How many people voted for Brexit in the belief that it would lead to something like Norway's got? Not in the EU but allows freedom of movement (even more so than the UK, because it's part of the Schengen zone) has to follow EU regulations and pay into the EU (nearly as much per head as the UK) yet doesn't have any influence about anything that the EU does.
I don't think there'd be many but, if we end up like that, how would any anyone be able to complain, when there was no single version of what Brexit meant, apart from "leaving the EU"?

The Brexiters have had 40 odd years moaning, at least the Remainers should have a few months.

The truth is now suddenly dawning, at least Boris ducked out before he could do any more damage.

The exit camp are divided into many factions from the knuckle draggers to the Daily Mail readers who were told it would be a good idea.

Personally, I think there should be a final referendum after all the wonderful negotiations have been completed.

As for the UK being so important to Europe that we can dictate terms needs to take heed of what the French have done at the ferry crossings.

Wasnt he all for coming out of EU?

Boris hasn't a chance in hell of curbing the freedom of movement AND keeping Britain in the single market. The very thought would cause huge waves within the EU, put simply, the basis of the EU is based on same rules for all, so giving the UK special treatment after them choosing to leave the EU is in all honesty, pure speculation that will not happen.

Hollande said that if the UK wishes to retain access to the free market, it cannot have restrictions on the free movement of people. Neither Hollande nor German Chancellor Angela Merkel offer any indication of budging from this stance.

"The UK today has access to the single market because it respects the four freedoms," said Hollande. "None can be separated from the other. There cannot be free movement of goods, free movement of capital [and] free movement of services if there isn't free movement of people."
He added: "It will be a choice facing the UK. Remain in the single market and then assume the free movement that goes with it or to have another status. That will be the subject of the negotiation."
So the myth that people think they voted for (let's be honest here, no more immigrants) comes only with leaving the single market. That will cause some problems then.

All this "taking Britain back" and all the other quotes made before the referendum will have the Brexiteers wondering what the heck happened to all the promises made. After Cameron and his Eton buddy did a smokey straight after the result and now Theresa May has slung Boris back in the ring with perennial losers, Davis and Fox, she is on a win win situation. After all she was a strict Remainer, so putting those three in charge of the exit makes sense, if they do a good job (lol) she wins by picking them, if as she suspects they will muck it up, she wins by getting rid of the people she doesn't need and can put the blame squarely on them...clever lady!

:D:D Theresa May a "strict Remainer" you´re having a laugh. She supported Cameron not Remain, she´s still picking the splinters out of her knickers from the fence she sat on through the campaign. She´s an outer and always has been.
I say again, you just cannot compare the UK with Norway, we are a much bigger fish and hence we are in a very strong negotiating position. A 66,000,000,000 pound trade deficit says so.
