Cavalier King Charles

Cavalier King Charles

Postby VeraBjork » Mon Feb 11, 2019 4:54 pm

Good day to you all,

We live in Quesada and we want to buy a bred Cavalier King Charles puppy, preferably one that is well house trained. It is not an issue if it is 4 months or older. And we are not in a hurry. However we don´t know where to turn or how to take the first steps. Is there anyone that can tell us if there are any such kennel around here or nearby that you can recommend? Is there anything in specific we need to be cautious about?

Thank you in advance
Vera

Hi, I am a registered dog breeder with the British Kennel Club.I bred Cavaliers for many years both in UK & Spain but now retired so do not have any more.Have bred other breeds but these were so lovely. Why would one of these end up in a dogs home? Please go to a breeders website where perhaps you will find a lovely bitch who either cannot be used or one who has not up to the breed standard.Personally I never did sell off any of mine, just ended up keeping them but then that's what I did.

Hi Vera,

Wherever you get your dog, ensure that you take all possible steps to reduce the risk of it contracting Leishmaniasis. This disease is carried by the Sandfly Mosquito and is endemic in the Mediterranean basin. Currently, there is no cure and it can be fatal, but a combination of a vaccine that has recently become available, along with an anti-parasitic collar, such as Seresto, to discourage them being bitten by an infected mosquito in the first instance.

Some friends bought a pedigree puppy from a Spanish breeder: the breeder hadn't taken these precautions and they didn't even tell our friends of the possibility of infection. The puppy's health is being kept stable with considerable medication (which is expensive), but this hasn't prevented it from having regular periods when it is very unwell.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

Best wishes,
Paul
