Idea for local Community forums

Postby Gordonchapman » Mon May 11, 2015 2:17 pm

Hi Jan,
I was wondering if it is possible to have a closed forum for people who live in a specific community?
Some of us have been looking at using Facebook but are not keen. This is a great forum but it would be great if we could upload minutes of meetings or community announcements, that sort of thing. It would also encourage everyone to use the wider forum at the same time.
Is such a thing possible?
Thanks

Hi Gordon

Yes we could do this for you. We can create private forums that only certain members can see, but I'm uncertain how we can ensure a member is definitely part of that community, happy to hear your suggestions.

We always like our information to be public, so I think we would have a public and a private forum for each community so there is a choice when discussing more private matters specific to that community.

We'd like to encourage more people in communities in Quesada to use our site so we are very happy to host this.

Hi,

I have made a new topic for this suggestion, as it was posted onto an older topic - It will now be easier for everyone to find.

Hi Alex and Jan,
Thanks for coming back so quick and am glad that the concept is possible. Regarding Alex's point about ensuring that someone is a genuine member of that specific community, I am happy to bounce ideas around but would look to your experience as forum moderators as to the best way forward.
Might it be an idea for each community to appoint its own moderator who will authorise new member to you although I am sure you would not wish the extra work this might entail.
It would be good to keep it simple!

Hi, it's me again.....I wondered if you might have come up with a workable solution yet to the idea of a closed community page(s)?
Thanks
