Is it possible to get health insurance in Spain for say a one month visit? The biggest risk of travelling without insurance is if medical treatment is needed. We can take the risks of theft etc, but not the cost of medical treatment.

Yes this is one thing I really don't understand. Why have the FCO given a blanket advisory against all non essential travel to all mainland Spain? Why not just make it for the most affected areas of Catalonia, Aragon and Navarra and leave the rest of Spain exempt the same as they've done with the Canaries and Balearics? The quarantine mainly impacts those who are working whereas there are a lot if retired people who could travel to Spain if it wasn't for the fact that the FCO advice annuls their travel insurance.

Most probably because you could fly into most Spanish airports & then travel to those areas you mention (which are not in"lockdown" yet) then return to another "covid free" area to fly home, not exactly difficult to figure out is it???

Well I'm obviously too honest as it never crossed my mind that people would do that

I am sure some kind of counter system could be developed to overcome what peeps are saying COULD happen.

To penalise an entire country for a small population minority - at a guess 10% of the total population - defies logic.

Does the quarantine include those returning by car to the UK from France, even though they may have travelled by car through France from Spain?

Yes. Even passengers transiting through Spain for one day, to change airports, overnight stay for flight connections or something similar, will have to quarantine in UK for 14 days. The 14 days starts from the day you leave Spain.
