Nothing rose tinted or otherwise about my spectacles...May 17th 2020...Downing Street Press briefing. Boris Johnson... "Of course the buck stops with me" over the governments response to the corona virus.

Well that ever gonna happen with Dido Harding running the show.
Goodness knows what they were thinking of appointing that incompetent fool.
My only guess is she's a token appointment.

The World already has a tack and trace in place,
Google has already installed it on your phone.
As pointed out on this forum weeks ago.

If this quarantine was really needed rather than a way of stopping holidaymakers spending their money in spain these forms would be critical. Shame on you Boris

I’d like to think that we’re more advanced and sophisticated than checking a card. All travellers passports are entered onto a system, so they’ll know who’s been to Spain.

Yes, but "they" won't know where you are staying in the UK & therefore can't monitor you during your quarantine period just by your passport being entered into a system.

We arrived by car just over 2 weeks ago - went P & O Dover - Calais - couldn’t get hold of anyone at P & O in the 48 hours before we left home so we completed a “Sworn Statement” for France but nobody wanted it.
We took our own 12v cool box full of food - so no meals out, toaster, kettle, flask etc and disinfectant and gel - wiped each hotel room down and didn’t leave the room until it was time to depart ;) 2 petrol stops in France was sufficient having left Dover full.
No problems at any our 2 hotels in France - (although it took me a while to get all our gear in the room!!!) and we crossed the Pyrenees on the Pau - Zaragoza route (not the tunnel - over the top) with no border or security checks. We arrived in our little inland town and purposely have stayed in most of the time - for 14 days - other than for shopping - as we wanted to be certain no one could say “you brought it here” - but as of today we are now booking meals out but specifically early evening or day time at restaurants who can offer “outside seating” because we think it makes sense not to put ourselves in harms way. As we are retired it’s worth it now for us as we can get our winter maintenance completed (already done over the last two weeks) and now stay another 6 weeks hopefully and repeat the processes on the return trip and our freezer is full at home with lots of long life milk in the cupboards for our 14 day isolation on return - whereupon we will need to fill in the U.K. form on the government web site for track & trace people to have our details. Safe journey.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the useful and interesting reply. From what you say there aren't any forms to fill in to enter Spain.

I haven't decided my route down yet but Pau route is probably favourite and that's good advice about a 12v cool bag. I will pay the extra to go by train across the channel to save a bit of time and cos I haven't done it before.
We did just spend a week in the Loire valley and didn't find the restrictions too hampering and filled the online 're-entry' form 48 hours before we returned. The ferry terminal at Calais was devoid of holiday makers, just about 20 cars on our ferry but still the lorries in bulk. There were one or two more layers of security on entry but no hassle. At Dover we weren't checked but the authorities of course know who we are by our car reg. and can track you by your mobile, if you have one.
