Totally sympathise with your position. We were with Bankia for three years no charges then last year €24 euro a quarter. Caixia bought out Bankia and then charged €36 a quarter.
We have closed our account with Bankia/Caixia and gone with Wise.com no charges allowed to take €400 euro each month without charges.

So far so good. All DDM for the usual utilities able to set up and we started the account online.

Only thing we have noticed is the pound to euro rate can be lower with Wise than other transfer rates we have seen, but only marginal.
