Bank Charges

Bank Charges

Postby Juanita » Tue Jan 05, 2021 5:36 pm

Can anyone recommend a bank in Spain that will not charge on receiving Bank transfers.
We bank with Sabadell and have just found out we have incurred a charge of 18 euros the minimum charge (rate of 0.35%) for receiving a Bank transfer from the UK. We received no prior notification of this nor the rate to be charged. This is a consequence of Brexit. Our account with Sabadell previously incurred no charges.

Just remembered we get our monthly transfer from World First who are Netherlands based so Sabadell have no business charging the commission fee as the money has not been transferred from the UK. Can't wait to 'have a word' and get my money back!!

My pension payment was not affected
This was my husband's private pension which is transferred using World First. As stated above just remembered World First are Netherlands based so they should not have charged commission.

Is this a standard charge per transaction or based on the amount transfered.

We did a transfer this morning from our Transferwise borderless account into Sabadell. No charges were levied by Sabadell for the transfer. We are permanent residents and have one UK state pension paid directly into Sabadell each month, with a top up transfer at least up to the minimum of 700 euros required for free banking.

Free banking with Sabadell is now only given if you have a qualifying product with the bank like investments or insurance does not matter how much you transfer each month
