Interesting it is expensive to buy a bankers draft, we just received a bankers draft for selling our house and bank inter charge 0.3% to bank the draft! However, they did a deal with currency transfer so waived the bankers draft fee.

This is very good!
I remember when I did my banker draft, the bank charge me 1 % of the draft value.

Dont know if its helpful, but I paid for my house by using Currencies Direct, you get a better rate from them and they didnt charge me to transfer the money, hope you get sorted out, cos BD are so very expensive

We have already transferred monies via money Corp to our bank in spain. The problem now is how to pay for the house when we go to the notary.
Looks like we will have to pay the 0.4 per cent for bankers draft don t fancy drawing cash to take
And heard they don't like that method anyway.

I hope Blackvelvet that its not too late. We have just gone through this. We argued against having to pay a draft despite being told that 'it is the normal way'. You can actually pay your lawyer by transfer and then they obtain a draft without cost to you.You have to pay it to them a couple of days beforehand. I guess it's a bit like England where you pay in to the lawyer's client account and then they pay the seller. You have to stand your ground as they weren't exactly enthusiastic about this method.

Thank you Gary and Wendy but we completed a couple of weeks ago.
It got worse as we ended up paying for three drafts as because it was an inherited property
And the family were in dispute they wanted Seperate payments.
We tried to reason with the bank and our representative we did get a bit of discount.
We were between a rock and as hard place as had no notice to sort beford going to the notary.
Thanks anyway and I am sure this
will help others

Ah! Sorry to hear blackvelvet that you had to pay out for this. I am sure though that you will soon put it behind you and enjoy your new home.
Seems odd that you can 'bargain' on the amount of percentage you pay for the draft. We found that there were different rates payable depneding on whether we paid directly or went through Estate Agents. All a bit strange really.
