I would recommend Sabadell. Plenty of branches, good online banking site, good security. I use several UK banks but prefer Sabadell.

La Caixa in Quesada, if you're transferring money for a purchase they are cheap in comparison to others plus really low fees.

I would say Sabadell too, at least as a non-resident . . . Never use a Bank to transfer large sums, UK or Spanish . . . Money Transfer firms will save you hundreds, if not thousands.
Sabadell don't charge for Euros coming in - effectively unlimited - or out - up to a limit. All Spanish Banks will get you for some fees in some way though.

All good advice above about banks but one thing I would like to add is try your best not to use any company/bank/solicitor recommended by any Estate Agent as it's a conflict of interest, particularly with Solicitors. If you choose and instruct these businesses yourself you will know for sure that they will be working in your interest only.
There are plenty of recommendations on this forum.

Agree with Jan's comments above, we made that mistake being a bit green at the time and the service was... shall I say not the best by any means......

La Caixa in Quesada - seconded (non_resident).

The only time I've ever been charged a fee by them (apart from the standard €24 per quarter for running the account) was when I stupidly transferred over more than €25000 in one go, so that was my own fault!!

Although...Sabadell DO seem to have a lot more ATMs, so if you're likely to be withdrawing small amounts quite often, then that's something to think about.

Sabadell are Ok if you have plenty of time, you take a ticket from the machine, similar to a delicatessen and wait...and wait....and wait.
I got fed up and changed to another bank.

Never had that problem. It must depend when you go there. Always found it an efficient service and they usually have around 3 serving so it always seems reasonably quick.

Personally I use Bankia, I know they had a problem a while ago, but didn't they all! I recieved all my bonds, etc. back and the staff have always been good/helpful in the village. Can only speak as I have found!
