I was in there yesterday and told them I wanted to close my account.
She said a credit card has to be paid up and then close the account online.

That's interesting! I have no credit card, and no balance in the current account...yet I contacted them to close the account, and they told me I have to go in...and gave me an appointment on the 5th of December!

I “lost it” in there yesterday after their continuous incompetence, lack of customer service and rudeness . I think she just wanted me out!
Happy in the sun.

We closed our account with them as we had sold our Spanish property
I made an appointment beforehand and brought our bank cards passports
etc to our appointment
It was very easy
We had took most of the money out of the account the previous week
so hardly any money left in the account
They closed our account there and then , returning
any money back to us in cash
Never heard from then again
If I was ever to buy another Spanish property
I wouldn’t use a bank again,
We are now going to buy in Madeira, and I can know the
Portuguese banks are so much better with far fewer charges

Opened a WISE Account and closed or Caixia Account. Can anyone advise if any Spanish banks do not charge a withdrawal fee from their ATM's.

Deutsche bank atm seems to be the one that people recommend or if you have a UK Santander account then a Santander atm is fee free.
