Fiscal Rep
Fiscal Rep
by John1cup » Tue Aug 07, 2018 11:44 am
Hi, is it a requirement under spanish law that non residents are required to appoint a fiscal representative?
Our current fiscal rep seems to charge rather a lot for as far as I can see not very much work.
Thanks

No it is not. but we pay around 110 per year but this also gives us access to a solicitor anytime and has been well worth it for any queries we have regarding anything great peace of mind.

Thanks Scuby, May I ask what they actually do for this payment each year.

They pay any taxes and keep us up to date with everything, in the time we have been here they have acted as our solicitor on several property purchases over the years at a very reasonable fee and given excellent advice also. We had a situation wit a car where trafico said we owed a tax on it and we did not it took many phone calls and letters for them to sort this and no additional charges (would have been almost impossible for us to sort this out) and if we have any queries about anything can just pop in and ask! well worth every penny in our opinion.
Of course you can do everything yourself and there is a lot of information on the forum about doing it if you want to save a few coppers!

I too am on the quest to become self sufficient on the fiscal rep thing, once everything to do with a property set up, is set up, as far as I am aware everything is done. as far as I can see what I get is paying 100eu for them to make one payment a year of approx 42eu on my behalf. does not sound cost effective to me. so far I have narrowed it down to a contributaria , or tax office in orihuela, ive yet to make that journey to find out more. but would be grateful if you let me know how you get on.

We dispensed with our solicitor as soon as we had completed our house purchase as he wanted 120 euros retainer fee ( just in case we needed him!) . We would then have to pay for an service provided anyway.
We have organised a company to complete our non residents tax ( for 30 euros for both of us ) per year. If we have needed a solicitor we instructed one but have not paid anywhere near as much as the 120 euros per year we have Saved.
Most information you will need can be got from forums like this or official internet sites so a fiscal rep who charges a retainer fee is not really needed.

As a Non-Resident, your fiscal responsibities are to pay your Non-Resident tax annually (if you don't rent out your property), or quarterly if you do rent it out; also, payment of your SUMA bills, e.g. IBI (Council Tax), Basura (Rubbish), Car Tax (if you have a car out here), along with utility bills, such a electricity and water.
All your bills can be set up as direct debits with each of the suppliers. Your Non-Resident tax can be done for a cost of £29.95 per person, per year, by contacting:
http://spanishtaxforms.co.uk/
They're by far the cheapest option we found, and are very responsive and efficient. (I just wish we could use them for our Residents' tax!)
