La Caxia - Holabank charges

La Caxia - Holabank charges

Postby Lolly18 » Wed Mar 11, 2020 12:14 pm

Hi

I have just returned from the La Caxia Bank in Quesada.

I wanted to ask about the fees they are imposing onto my account.

They have said the notification of the charges has been sent to everyone, it’s a generic letter.

It depends on what type of non resident account you have.

I will attach the copy of what she gave me, the up shot is

12€ Current quarter charge for banking
28€ Current quarter bank / cash card
4€ for any further bank transfers (currently free for up to 23 money transfers a year.)

It is not an extra charge but they are lumping the charges together so it works out at the moment 96€ for the year not 240€ as the notification suggests. It depends what account you personally have.

Hope that helps.

We have a Holabank account, people need to check if they have the same style account for being a non resident.

I would hazard a guess that the majority of non res customers are currently paying the basic 12 eur per quarter. Personally as a non res for over 25 years I have never found it necessary to have a Spanish debit or credit card. I can draw cash in Spain with no charges and bank rate on my UK Nationwide cards or cash at Spanish Santander atms again with my UK Santander card with no charges and bank rate. Neither UK banks make charges for cards. Halifax also have a credit card offering the same benefits.

That is exactly what we currently do. I withdraw cash from my English Santander cash card at an atm at Santander Bank and for shopping, restaurant purchases, I use English Santander Zero credit card. No fees.

We only use La Caxia Bank for direct debits.

I have made an appointment for today to see the account manager, I would like to check that on the 1st April nothing changes as per the notification we were sent saying that they will charging 60€ a quarter.

Rone, I Have a Nationwide card and am charged 2.75% of my wirhdrawal amount say i withdraw 300 euros at 85p in the pound 300 times 85p =£255.00.x 2.75%=£7.01 + a further pound for a foreign currency so my 300 euro withdrawal cost me a extra £8.01 be interested to know what Nationwide account you have.

Hi

We had a meeting with the account manager and she signed us up to the account HolaBank Living Solutions.

I was under the impression we were already using this type of account, we went along today to double check and glad we did, as we had to signed up and everything should be the same. We will be checking our fees very closely.

The reason I didn’t close the account there and then was the knowledge that everything is being paid and the non resident certificate is produced and sent to the authorities each year. I’m unsure how that would work if we didn’t have a Spanish bank done for us.

I do have a TransferWise account and Starling account but hold back at this moment in time.

Hope that helps.
