Looking for a new bank

Looking for a new bank

Postby lllkb01 » Tue Feb 08, 2022 6:49 pm

We're non residents with a property in Benimar. We bank with Sabadell and have noticed how our bank charges have rocketed. In the last 12 months our fees,( including€30 for a debit card) have topped €240, which, considering that we don't receive paper statements, seems excessive. On average there are only 3/4 items a month passing through the account.
Please can someone recommend a cheaper way of running a bank account in Spain?
Thanks

There are many discussions of this topic on here. Non-residents can manage without a Spanish bank account. Have a look at Wise: https://wise.com/es/multi-currency-account/

I bank with Sabadell on the Quenta expansion account. If you transfer in €700 per month then there’s no charges if you also take their property insurance policy, which I find competitive.
I also use Wise to transfer €’s into the account and get good exchange rates with low costs and fast transfers.
Make an appointment with Sabadell and change your account.

Is that account for NON-residents? The OP stated they were non-resident, and the non-resident option on the Santander website charges €16 per month.

I’m non-resident and opened a Cajamar account. I pay no charges and have a cash card for their ATMs
