NR Tax for 2015 - increased?
by RH1 » Fri Jun 03, 2016 10:43 am
Our tax has almost doubled for 2015 - does anyone know why please?
Also is there a review of property values in this area imminent this year or next & what effect on our tax bill will there be ie SUMA & NR tax?
TIA

yes more than likely because u have to include private UK pensions which obviously will add to your earnings. Mike

Hi
Pensions and UK earnings are not included for Non Resident (NR) tax.

according to a statement made last year by mr Rajoy some tax allowances were to be reinstated for the 2015 tax year. my recent tax return shows no evidence of this.

The NR Tax that I paid in December 2015 had almost doubled as well. I questioned this with my solicitor but she assured me they had simply increased the charges. I was very unsure as this was a new solicitor to me following the demise of QSD. It would be interesting to see if anyone else has been affected in a similar way.

Has the catastral value increased on your property? I know some were recently recalculated (should be done every 10 years I understand but some properties in this area hadn't been done for some 20 years).
If you look at your iBI (council tax) bill it will show the catastral or rental value (what we used to call rateable values in UK).
The way they work is the catastral value x 1.1% then the 24% imputed income tax of that.
So, if your catastral value is €100,000 x 1.1% = 1100 euro and the imputed income tax on that is €264.
The income tax rate has actually dropped from 24.75% to 24% but it would be the increase in catastral value which makes the difference and each owner of the property has to pay it.

my tax rose from 25euros in 2010 incrementally until this year i have to pay over 900euros. this despite Rajoy saying this year certain allowances would be reinstated. my figures have been checked three times by different firms and each said all was correct . it is difficult to accept but what alternative is there?
